" Ghar di Sharab na na howe..nasha Mukt Punjab howe...."

www.sabblok.blogspot.com

I was tempted to divert my cycle towards Johal Nangal village near Batala  where 17 people died after consuming home made alcohol. I reached the village in the evening and witnessed people still in the grief and praying for deported souls. First thing which came in my mind was, do deported souls deserve the sympathy? Even after knowing alcohol is harmful for the health then why did they consume it? After talking to villagers I came to know that People who consumed the home made alcohol were regular drinkers. They were not able pay more money to buy alcohol from shops therefore they used to purchase from local home made alcohol and drink it. People of village  kept on complaining  about local administration which is  least worried about contrIolling  home made alcohol in the area. After the death of 17 people in one village police forcefully took away the dead bodies. It is not only this village which witnessed deaths but also surrounding villages also witnessed deaths in recent time. It is highlighted  in the media only after 17 deaths occurred in Johal Nangal village alone.

The capital city of Punjab and Harayana, the City Beautiful  Chandigarh which has more than 350 alcohol shops never worried about deaths in small village of Punjab. Not a single individual tried to light lamp for the departed souls. Forget about individual not even associations did not even bother to raise voice. I heard NGOs members hesitate to go inside Punjab because water of Punjab is full of Uranium. It is sad the land of 5 rivers including holy rivers such  Beas and Sutlez are blamed of Uranium. It hurts because land of Gurus which witnessed many historical developments is sinking in the ship of alcoholism. It is sinking and sailing in the ocean of alcoholism and drug addiction. Why can not people who enjoy all the facilities of modern times of Chandigarh get together and do some thing for sinking Punjab. Why can not these people put petition in Punjab and Harayana High Court. Why can not women of Chandigarh unite and raise voice for Sailing Punjab?                   My friends from Banglore keep asking me why do Punjabi people alcohol so much? They even ask me do Punjabi people mix water in alcohol or just drink it with out water? Their questions do not end here but they  end with great laugh by asking do Punjabis drink even in the morning? Well, I failed to answer my friends because it hurts me to talk bad about great Punjabi people who have great History with having battled with invaders. It is Punjabis who scarified lives in freedom struggle. History says Hindu religion was saved after sacrifise of Guru Teg Bahadur ji. It is Punjabi people who feed most of the Indian. Punjab is Holy and its History is Holy. If unholy thing happening with Punjab then we need to think about it.                        Punjabi pop culture has damaged Punjab Punjabi Punjabiyat young artists who sing vulgar songs in Punjabi are corrupting the minds of new generation.  Punjabi  Music legends such as Gurudas Mann has to go to villages of Punjab and sing songs like " Ghar di Sharab na na howe,, Nasha Mukt Punjab howe" I am asking him to go to Punjabi villages instead of going abroad for stage show because he is the one who sang " Ghar di Sharab howe apna Punjab howe". Gurudas Mann can change the mind set of people He can bring reform in Punjab but I doubt he will go deep inside Punjab because he is addicted to stage shows abroad and I also think he is also worried about Punjab water which is full of Uranium. It is time to save Punjab from  alcoholism by artists. and the Gurudas mann is leader of galaxy of Punjabi artists. let us see how many Punjabi artists will go into Punjab and sing for Punjab. History will never forgive these artiest who sing for money and sink Punjab into alcoholism.Panditrao Dharennavar Assistant ProfessorPG GOvt CollegeSector-46Chandigarh9988351695
